We have a great matchup in primetime. South Bend, IN with a rematch between Texas A&M vs Notre Dame. Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko makes his return to South Bend where he served as the defensive coordinator under former ND head coach Brian Kelly.
Notre Dame coming off a rare early season bye week to prep for this game after losing to Miami on the road by 3 points. New QB CJ Carr looked impressive in his first start despite the loss throw a 63.3% pass completion rate and 7.4 YPA in the passing game.
This will be Texas A&M’s 1st challenge of the season after wins over UTSA and Utah St. They won by margin in both matchups but the takeaway from those spots was the Texas A&M rush defense. The Aggies gave up 6.2 YPC and 203 rushing yds to UTSA in Week 1.
Notre Dame while they didn’t have the best rushing performance in Week 1, they have one of the best rushing duos in the country with Jadarian Price and Jeremiah Love. Both running backs helped carry the Irish to the National Championship game in 2024.
Looking at trend angles, the last thing you want is to face Notre Dame off a bye. The Irish are 8-1 ATS off a bye week under head coach Marcus Freeman winning by an average margin of 25.2 PPG. Also, Notre Dame is 10-2 ATS as a single digit favorite the last 2 years and 3-0 ATS in those spots vs ranked opponents.
Notre Dame was a 3 point road dog last year and now you see them as a 6.5/7 point favorite at home even though they won the previous matchup. Irish should roll by margin here.
