LONGHORNS @ BULLDOGS 11/15/25
Arch Manning returns to Georgia (8-1) on Saturday to lead Texas (7-2) into a rematch of last year’s College Football Playoff. The two-loss Longhorns are ranked five slots behind Georgia, which is ranked No. 5.
Manning has thrown for 346 and 325 yards, the two biggest passing totals of his career, in Texas' most recent victories over Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. Ahead of this crucial game in Athens, Manning has emerged as a star after getting off to a rough start in his first season as the Longhorns quarterback. His first game of the season on the road against Ohio State didn’t go so well.
"Any time you are moving the ball on offense, the game starts to slow down," Manning stated. "We simply must keep going on. Georgia's defense is excellent.
Prior to one of the most anticipated games in Sanford Stadium's 96-year history, Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC) has won five straight games. The Longhorns will play at Sanford Stadium for the first time since Georgia defeated Texas 22-19 in overtime in the SEC Championship Game rematch in December.
"We've got a big matchup," announced Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. "I hold Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian in high regard. I consider him a good buddy. He performs admirably. He is enrolled in one of the nation's top programs. Everywhere he has gone, he has achieved success. I value our friendship and am excited for Saturday night's fantastic matchup.
When the Bulldogs made an impromptu appearance in the conference championship game last year, Gunner Stockton made a big impression. Due to a ruptured UCL, Carson Beck was forced to leave the game. Stockton helped Georgia win a conference championship by completing 12 of 16 passes for 71 yards in the second half. Stockton has passed for 15 touchdowns and only two interceptions in his first full season as quarterback, while also scoring seven touchdowns on the ground.
About Stockton, Smart remarked, "He's brought toughness, he's brought wisdom, he's brought consistency." "He has stayed clear of disastrous stuff like turnovers. Both his arms and legs have been used to create plays. When he plays well, it will be really difficult for us to defend."
Texas was virtually eliminated from the postseason after losing to woeful Florida on October 4. Since then, the Longhorns have won four straight games, and a road victory on Saturday would demonstrate that they are a club deserving of the playoffs.
"Since we lost to Florida, the first bullet point I talked to the team about was what it takes to get to the SEC Championship game," Sarkisian stated. "You need to win Saturday night if you want to participate in the SEC Championship. Simply put, it is what it is.
Although the season isn't quite over and no SEC club has anything finalized, the winner on Saturday would rise in the rankings. If the Longhorns win their remaining three regular-season games, a top four playoff berth is still possible. Texas hosts Arkansas and No. 3 Texas A&M on November 28.
Before traveling to Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) to play No. 16 Georgia Tech on November 28, Georgia has home games against Texas and Charlotte on November 22. Last season, Georgia defeated the Yellow Jackets 44-42 after overcoming a 17-point deficit in a game requiring eight overtimes.

These are two of the top scoring defenses in the FBS. Texas ranks No. 11 allowing 16.4 points per game. Georgia is ranked 22nd and gives up 19.8 per game. Georgia’s offense relies on the run, which is the strength of the Texas defense. The Longhorns are second in the nation against the run. They also get after the passer, ranking in the top-15 in the country in sack rate. These two teams played twice last year. The regular season game saw a total of 57 and the SEC championship had a total of 51. This year’s total opened at 51.5 and is now down to 49.5. Expect a close, low-scoring game.
