VIKINGS @ RAMS 1/13/25
The Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings, who faced each other often in the 1970s playoffs, are set to battle it out in the wild card round tonight in Glendale, Ariz. Due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the NFL relocated the Rams' home game to the Arizona Cardinals home stadium for public safety reasons.
The Rams (10-7), the No. 4 seed, clinched home-field advantage over the Vikings (14-3), courtesy of their NFC West Division championship. Meanwhile, the No. 5 seed Vikings followed the Detroit Lions as runner-ups in the NFC North to earn
With a 5-2 edge in playoff meetings with the Rams, the Vikings are hoping for their first playoff win since the 2019 wild-card round. They have had an impressive season, thanks to their Pro Bowl quarterback, Sam Darnold. Darnold ranks fifth in the NFL in both passing yards (4,319) and touchdowns (35). He is also the first quarterback in the NFL to secure 14 regular-season victories in his first season with a team.
Also notable is Vikings' wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who collected 1,533 receiving yards, which was second in the league, and running back Aaron Jones, who achieved a career-best 1,138 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Despite a quad injury, Darnold is expected to play following full participation in recent practices. However, the team will go without linebacker Patrick Jones II and will look to fill gaps due to the questionable statuses of running back Cam Akers and lineman Taki Taimani.
For the Rams, they managed an incredible turnaround from a 1-4 start to win the NFC West in Week 17, all thanks to impressive performances from key players like QB Matthew Stafford and wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. Both players had missed time at the beginning of the season.
Darnold will be looking to rectify a previous 30-20 loss to the Rams during the regular season. Stafford threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns in the Rams win. The Rams sat their starters and lost 30-25 to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18 of the regular season.
Both teams finished the regular season strong, especially against the number. The Rams were 5-1 SU and 5-1 ATS in their final six games. The Vikings won nine straight before their season-ending loss to the Detroit Lions. That game cost them the NFC North Division title and the conference’s No. 1 seed in the postseason. Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in its last five games.

FREE PICK: MATTHEW STAFFORD 250+ PASSING YARDS
Playoff Matthew Stafford is a different breed. The veteran quarterback averages over 300 passing yards per game (308) in the postseason. He also averages three passing touchdowns per playoff game. As good as Minnesota’s defense is, its pass defense leaves much to be desired. The Vikings ranked 28th in the NFL giving up 244 passing yards per game. Oddsmakers are predicting a high-scoring game with the total set at 48. Don’t be surprised if Stafford throws the ball 30 to 35 times. His pass attempt prop is set at 33.5. Stafford didn’t go over 200 yards in his last three games as the Rams running game took over. He has gone Over 250 in 5 of his last 10 games.
