WARRIORS @ NUGGETS 11/7/25
The Denver Nuggets need a victory to remain in contention in West Group C, while the Golden State Warriors start their run for the NBA Cup tonight. The teams will meet for the second time this season on Friday in Denver.
The Nuggets suffered a crushing 109-107 loss at Portland on October 31 in their opening round-robin match of the tournament, and they cannot afford another defeat if they hope to advance to the next round.
Getting even in the season series against Golden State, which defeated Denver 137-131 on October 23, is equally crucial for the Nuggets. Steph Curry's burst of shooting, which included a 3-pointer that forced overtime, was the difference in that game, even though the Nuggets had a late lead.
Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler should be ready for Friday night. Curry will be out tonight. The three missed Wednesday's loss in Sacramento: Butler (low back), Green (ribs), and Curry (illness). A number of younger Warriors players took advantage of the increased playing time. Will Richard, a rookie, seized the chance and scored a career-high 30 points in 34 minutes. Head coach Steve Kerr praised him for his season-opening performance.
"This guy, from the beginning of camp, has shown he's an NBA player," Kerr stated. He doesn't turn it over, makes the right play, can manage the ball under pressure, and makes the right pass thanks to his experience and poise. He is an extremely talented player.
In order to defeat a strong Denver team, Kerr will need to use his veterans. The Warriors are led in scoring by Curry (26.8 points) and Butler (19.0 points), and Green is the best post defender and is averaging 6.4 assists.
Since losing to these Warriors on opening night, the Nuggets have won five of six games, including two straight victories to begin their four-game homestand against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. The driving force has been Nikola Jokic. He averages 24.1 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 12 assists, and he recorded a triple-double in five games. Jokic leads a Nuggets offense that is second in the NBA in points per game (124.6). The Nuggets have scored at least 122 points in six of the last seven games.
It's enjoyable. According to Tim Hardaway Jr., who leads the reserve unit with 11.3 points per game, "any offense is fun when things are going your way early on." In addition, we still need to improve our ability to handle the basketball, box out, grab defensive rebounds, and generally perform better. We can always get better at certain aspects of the game.
Together with Jokic, Christian Braun (12.4), Aaron Gordon (20.4), and Jamal Murray (22.7), Hardaway is one of five Denver players who average double figures in scoring. Cameron Johnson (8.6 points) is the only starter who is not averaging more than 10 points. It is ten points less than his average from Brooklyn the previous season and his lowest production since his rookie campaign in Phoenix in 2019–20.

JIMMY BUTLER OVER 24.5 PTS+REBS
Butler is listed as questionable for tonight, but he should play along with Draymond Green. Steph Curry is definitely out, which means Butler’s usage will go up tonight. So far this season, Butler’s average per game is exactly 24.5 points and rebounds. He has gone Over this number in 4 of his last 5 games and 6 of 8 for the season. In the four road games he’s played this season, his average is 28.3 points and rebounds and he went Over this number in 3 of the 4 games. Butler will be the Warriors primary offensive weapon tonight, which may be enough to push him Over this total on its own.
