When the Golden State Warriors play the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, they hope to win their first NBA Cup game and complete a little road sweep. When the teams played on Wednesday in San Antonio, Stephen Curry scored 46 points to help the Warriors win 125-120.

The Warriors are 0-1 while the Spurs are 1-0 in West Group C in the league's in-season tournament. The group also includes the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Curry scored a season-high point total on Wednesday, helping Golden State win for the second time in its last three games and move up to 2-6 on the road.

Jimmy Butler III of the Warriors remarked, "Give the ball to Steph and get out of the way," in reference to the team's tactics in the most recent triumph. "That is the main objective. It truly is art. I refer to it as 'the art of getting out of the way.' For example, move aside and pass the ball to (No. 30). I believe we concentrated on the fact that talent will put one at a disadvantage tonight. Allow Steph to continue doing what he has been doing in this league for so long.

Golden State won with Butler scoring 28 points and Moses Moody scoring 19.

After laboring in Golden State's previous three games, Jonathan Kuminga started the game on the bench but exited late in the first half due to knee pain and did not come back. He is liste as doubtful for tonight’s game. This will be the third of the Warriors' six-game road trip.

Golden State jumped out to the lead with a dominant third quarter in which Curry scored 22 of the Warriors' 43 points, after the Spurs led by as many as 16 points in the first half and by seven at the half on Wednesday.

The Spurs' top scorer, Victor Wembanyama, finished with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. San Antonio now has two players with triple-doubles thanks to Stephon Castle's 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. The loss ended the Spurs' three-game winning streak.

San Antonio had not lost at home in six games this season. The Spurs, who hope to have learned from their blunders and lack of focus against the seasoned and battle-tested Warriors, will play the second of five games at home tonight.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson stated, "There were a few times that we probably had some participation in stopping our runs." "(Sometimes) that was some good offensive stretches and then we didn't have discipline or shorted up defensively or we had some good defensive stretches and probably didn't capitalize on (the offensive end) -- there were some self-inflicted wounds."
