EAGLES @ CHARGERS 12/8/25

Despite having a fractured hand, Justin Herbert has a good chance of playing on Monday night. Even with a break in his left (non-throwing) hand, Herbert is expected to be in the starting lineup when his Los Angeles Chargers play the Philadelphia Eagles in Inglewood, California.

For tonight’s game, the 27-year-old quarterback is listed as questionable. During the first quarter of the Chargers' 31-14 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders at home last week, he suffered the fracture. After leaving the game, he came back wearing a cast to protect his hand.

A plate and many screws were placed into Herbert's hand during surgery on Monday afternoon. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, he participated in practice to a limited extent.

Herbert remarked, "I'm doing everything I can to be out there," "I would sacrifice everything for those guys. Ultimately, though, you must be practical and pay attention to the doctors, as they are the experts. Let's see how it turns out.

The Chargers (8-4) want Herbert on the field for the prime-time game against the Eagles (8-4) because he has thrown for 2,842 yards and 21 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions. Greg Roman, the offensive coordinator for Los Angeles, is actually depending on Herbert being ready to go.

"We're really optimistic Justin is going to play in this game in particular," Roman stated on Thursday.

If Herbert is unable to play, Trey Lance would start as quarterback against the Eagles. Omarion Hampton, a rookie running back who has missed the last seven games due to a fractured left ankle, will be one man to rely on. He is also listed as questionable.

The Chargers are two games behind the top-ranked Denver Broncos in the AFC West. Coming into this weekend, Los Angeles was in the top wild-card slot in a competitive AFC playoff race.

Despite leading the NFC East, Philadelphia has fallen behind in the race for the top spot in the NFC playoffs after losing consecutive games. Over the last two weeks, the Eagles have lost to the Dallas Cowboys (24-21) and the Chicago Bears (24-15), both of whom outscored them 24-6 in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia has been outscored in the last quarter 84-56 this season.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni stated that he is investigating the cause of the team's mini-slump.

"Some of these answers, when you are trying to fix things -- it is hard -- they aren't clear," Sirianni stated. "We've never seemed conservative when we've had a lead, in my opinion. We are currently on a two-game losing streak, of course. It's all about regaining that self-assurance and consistency.

This week, Sirianni said that Kevin Patullo, the associate head coach, will continue to call offensive plays. Hours after the Eagles' defeat over the Bears, Patullo's New Jersey home was showered with eggs early on Saturday morning.

After two consecutive defeats, star quarterback Jalen Hurts isn't going to freak out. There is no reason, in his opinion, why Philadelphia cannot win the Super Bowl again.

Jalen Carter, the Eagles' standout defensive tackle, will miss time due to surgery on both shoulders earlier this week.

Lane Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman for Philadelphia, was sidelined on Saturday due to a foot injury that prevented him from practicing all week. Both offensive tackle Myles Hinton (back) and S Marcus Epps (shoulder) are doubtful. Jaelan Phillips, an outside linebacker with a concussion, did not earn a status designation after practicing on Saturday.

The only Chargers player sidelined was tight end Tucker Fisk (ankle). Along with Hampton and Herbert, defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia (elbow) and running back Hassan Haskins (hamstring) are all doubtful. On Friday and Saturday, Hampton participated fully in practice. He sustained an injury against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.
