After winning seven of their last eight games, the Minnesota Timberwolves are feeling very good. Tonight, the Timberwolves will play the second game of a five-game homestand in Minneapolis against the Memphis Grizzlies in an attempt to continue their winning streak.
On Sunday night, Minnesota defeated the Sacramento Kings by 14 points. During their recent winning streak, the Timberwolves have also beaten the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, and New Orleans Pelicans twice.
Chris Finch, the coach of the Timberwolves, is pleased with his observations.
"I think our composure down the stretch has gotten a lot better," Finch stated. "Our ability to read correctly is helpful, and making the appropriate shots has undoubtedly helped in those situations. After our trip to Phoenix, Sacramento, and Oklahoma City that week, we discussed the themes that emerged and how we need to improve at closing games. Additionally, the men have addressed that well."
After defeating the Clippers 121-103 on Monday night, Memphis is aiming for consecutive victories. The Grizzlies have won six of their last eight games and three of their last four. Even though standout guard Ja Morant has been out due to a left ankle sprain, the Grizzlies have had some recent success. Morant's availability on Wednesday is questionable.
Jaren Jackson Jr. will make an effort to take the lead regardless of Morant's availability. Jackson just finished the Grizzlies' victory over the Clippers with a season-high 31 points. He also contributed two steals, four rebounds, four assists, and five blocked shots.
Tuomas Iisalo, the coach of the Grizzlies, commended Jackson on his growth over the season.
"He's been working very hard," came from Iisalo. "I believe he feels very comfortable making those easy but difficult reads right now, and the guys around him are trying to put him in better situations.
Anthony Edwards, who leads the Timberwolves, is doubtful for the game tonight due to a right foot injury. Due to discomfort in his right Achilles tendon, teammate Mike Conley is not participating either.
Both players were sidelined for Sunday's game against the Kings, but the Timberwolves won thanks to the contributions of depth players like Bones Hyland (18 points, five assists). Again, Hyland might have to put in more work than usual against the Grizzlies.
