HEAT @ MAVERICKS 12/3/25

Tonight, the Dallas Mavericks host the Miami Heat in an attempt to snap their season's first three-game winning streak. Dallas finished a 2-2 road trip after losing 15 of its first 20 games before winning back-to-back games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets.

On Saturday, the Mavericks upset the Clippers 114-110 thanks to a season-high 35 points from rookie Cooper Flagg. Two nights later, Dallas defeated the Nuggets 131-121, with Anthony Davis scoring a season-high 32 points and pulling down a season-high 13 rebounds. The Mavericks won't get too excited about winning two straight games, according to Flagg.

"We haven't gotten too low off some of these losses, and we're not getting too high off a couple of wins," Flagg stated. "Just maintain your composure and keep improving on our performance from the previous two games.

Western Conference Rookie of the Month for October/November went to Flagg, the first overall choice in the 2025 draft. His averages are 17.0 points, 3.4 assists, and 6.6 rebounds. In their brief time together, Davis has been impressed by Flagg, who turns 19 on December 21.

According to Davis, "He's going to continue to be aggressive," "He is unstoppable when he is moving downhill, reaching his midrange, and making the basket.

Ryan Nembhard, an undrafted rookie free agent, gave the Mavericks an outstanding performance against the Nuggets as well. The point guard recorded 10 assists without committing a single turnover and finished with 28 points on 12-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.

Miami defeated the Mavericks on November 24 and has now won seven of its last eight games. In his season debut, Tyler Herro led the team to a 106-102 victory over Dallas with 24 points on 12-of-18 shooting. In the four games that he has participated in, Herro has scored more than 20 points.

The Heat defeated the Clippers 140-123 at home on Monday, and many of their players were outstanding. Miami's 24 three-pointers tied a franchise record.

Davion Mitchell was 4-for-4 from beyond the arc while scoring 16 points and dishing out 12 assists, Norman Powell scored 30 points while making six 3-pointers, Bam Adebayo made five while scoring 27 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, Herro made four while scoring 22 points, and Andrew Wiggins made two while scoring 22 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.

Mitchell is accelerating the Miami offense, scoring 10 points per game, and dishing out a career-high 7.8 assists on average.

Powell's (ankle) status for the game is listed as uncertain. The Mavericks' Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington are both doubtful due to ankle problems.

HEAT -4.5

The Heat are third in the Eastern Conference standings right now, just three games behind the conference-leading Detroit Pistons. Miami is a top-tier team with the No. 2 offense in the league (124.3 ppg) and a Defensive Rating that is fourth. The Heat has a +6.7 point differential and they love to play fast. Dallas, on the other hand, is a mess. The Mavs are dead last in Offensive Rating and 28th in scoring (111.1 ppg). Dallas still doesn’t have Kyrie Irving and they’ll be missing Dereck Lively II tonight. Miami has been strong against the number this season - 13-8 ATS. Dallas is just 5-8 ATS at home this season.
