The Phoenix Suns have been all about drama, twists and turns this season. Add in some thrilling in-game action and you have a heckuva season. Well, kind of. Phoenix is hanging on to a play-in spot at the moment, 15.5 games out of first place. They are tied with Sacramento and Golden State at 25-25 but hold the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference heading into tonight’s game.
Star forward Kevin Durant, an NBA legend and the team's leading scorer, is nursing a sprained ankle, raising questions over his participation in tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz. Durant did not play on Wednesday as the Suns got hammered by OKC 140-109.
The Suns have had a roller coaster of a season. It started with eight wins in nine games, but recent slumps have thrown their playoff chances into jeopardy. In addition to Durant's injury, trade rumors swirled around Durant and Bradley Beal, but both still remain as the team's backbone.
The Suns' lineup suffered a shuffle when center Jusuf Nurkic, along with a future first-round pick, was sent to the Charlotte Hornets. In return, the Suns welcomed the duo of Cody Martin and Vasilije Micic, with a future second-round pick also thrown into the mix.
The Jazz are coming fresh off an electrifying comeback win over the Golden State Warriors. They're also in the middle of a horrible season, and will be down a player in Jordan Clarkson due to injury. However, with a potential return of their star player, Lauri Markkanen, the Jazz should be able to make this one interesting.
Utah hasn’t had a lot of success lately. They are just 2-9 SU in their last 11 games. They also haven’t had much success against the Suns. They are 0-9 SU in the last nine against Phoenix and 1-7 SU in the last 8 on the road in Phoenix.
