COACH RICK CBB PREVIEWS

BEAVERS @ REDHAWKS 2/15/26

The Oregon State Beavers (14-13) head into the Redhawk Center tonight to face the Seattle Redhawks (15-11) in a West Coast Conference clash. While Seattle enters as the home favorite, the Beavers are playing their most inspired basketball of the season, having won four of their last five games. Seattle, conversely, has dropped four of their last five and is looking to protect a strong 11-3 home record.

Oregon State is currently the hot team in this matchup. They have covered the spread in 9 of 15 games as an underdog this season and are 5-4 ATS on the road. Their recent form is elite. They just dismantled San Francisco 90-63 on the road, shooting a blistering 56% from the field and 60% from deep. Jorge Diaz Graham (18 points in the last game) and Josiah Lake II (13.4 PPG) have found a rhythm that makes this 6.5-point cushion very attractive.

Seattle has struggled significantly as a favorite, posting a 5-11 ATS record in that spot. While their defense is ranked 29th nationally by KenPom, their offense has stagnated, averaging just 73 points per game (295th). In a game where possessions will be limited by Oregon State’s slow tempo (309th in AdjT), a 6.5-point spread is a massive hurdle for a struggling Seattle offense to cover.

This matchup features a clash of styles that heavily favors the Under. Seattle’s entire identity is built on a top-30 defense that allows only 68 points per game. They rank 37th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency and are particularly good at defending the interior (69th in 2P% defense).

Oregon State plays at one of the slowest paces in the country, ranking 309th in Adjusted Tempo. They prefer to grind out possessions and use the full shot clock. The Under has hit in 15 of Seattle's 24 games this season (62.5%) and is 7-5 in their home games. With Seattle's offense ranking 303rd in efficiency, don't expect a shootout.

The Beavers have already proven they can beat Seattle, winning the first meeting 68-55 back in January. They are entering this game with massive momentum, winning four of their last five, including three straight road/neutral wins against San Francisco, Washington State, and San Diego.

Seattle is reeling, having lost four of their last five games. Their offensive struggles are profound. The Redhawks shot just 45% in their recent loss to Santa Clara and have lacked a consistent secondary scoring threat behind Brayden Maldonado.

Oregon State is 4-1 in their last five games. Seattle is 1-4 in their last five games. Seattle's defense (29th) takes on an Oregon State offense that is surging (56% FG in the last game). If Oregon State maintains even a fraction of their recent shooting efficiency, Seattle's 303rd-ranked offense will not be able to keep pace.

Center Yaak Yaak is listed as questionable for Oregon State. If he is out, expect Noah Amenhauser (7'2") to see increased minutes to combat Seattle's Austin Maurer (7'0") in the paint. Oregon State won the previous meeting this season 68-55 on January 8th, holding Seattle to just 35% shooting from the field.

FREE PICK: OREGON STATE +6.5

This comes down to defense and pace. Seattle ranks 29th in Defensive Rating and they hold teams to 68 points per game. On offense, the Redhawks struggle. They rank 295th in scoring, averaging 73 ppg. Oregon State has won 4 of its last 5 games and they’ve covered 9 of their last 15 games as an underdog. The Beavers play at one of the slowest tempos in the country, ranking 309th in Adjusted Tempo. Seattle is just 1-4 in its last five games and 15 of their 24 games this season have cashed on the Under. In a low-scoring, slow-paced game with how Oregon State has been playing recently, we’ll take the points with the Beavers.
