Sanchez starts for the Phillies tonight against the Giants. He has been good for the Phillies so far this season. Philadelphia has won all three of Sanchez's starts in 2025. Sanchez has missed a lot of bats too. He has recorded 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched.
Sanchez only recorded three strikeouts in his last start. That was against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are one of the more difficult teams to strikeout as they rank seventh in MLB in strikeouts per game. St. Louis hitters whiff an average of 7.78 times per game.
San Francisco, on the other hand, strikes out a lot. Giants hitters rank 26th in the majors averaging 9.56 strikeouts per game. Even last night when San Francisco was racking up 11 runs on the Phillies, the Giants still registered 10 strikeouts.
t's a limited sample size, but Sanchez has had success against current Giants hitters. He's got a 33 percent strikeout rate against San Francisco hitters in the current lineup. Sanchez also has a 26 percent strikeout rate this season.
So, the Giants struck out 10 times yesterday. They also struck out 11 times in their 10-4 win over Philly on Monday. That gives San Francisco 29 strikeouts in three games. The Giants came into this series having won two of three games against the Yankees. In those three games, they struck out 33 times!
Sanchez has gone Over 5.5 strikeouts in two of his three starts this season. After missing this number in his last start, he gets it tonight.
