MINNESOTA @ ATLANTA (ATL -200, 7.5)
F5 UNDER 4.5
Chris Sale gets the start for Atlanta. He is off to probably the worst start of his career. Sale, of course, is a Cy Young-level pitcher, but so far this season he is 0-2 with a 6.63 ERA. It's not often (if ever), that you would see "0-2, 6.63" listed after Sale's name, but that's where he is right now.
Sale is simply too good of a pitcher to see this continue. Tonight, I think he sees his season begin to change. He'll face a Twins lineup that is one of the worst in baseball right now. Minnesota ranks 26th or worse in runs per game, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS.
Sale is likely due for some positive regression too. While his ERA is above 6.00, his xERA is just above 4.00 and his xFIP is just 3.37. Against a weak Twins lineup, Sale should have success and he should pitch at least 5 innings.
On the other side, Minnesota will start Simeon Woods Richardson who is 1-1 with a 4.30 ERA. He is, however, coming off his best start of the season. He pitched 5 innings and allowed just 1 earned run in a win over the Detroit Tigers.
With some very good starting pitching, the Tigers trend toward the Under in the F5. The Tigers F5 O/U mark is 8-11 for the season. Minnesota has seen the F5 Under cash in 7 of its last 10 games. The Twins don't hit left-handed pitching very well. They've only faced two left-handed starters, but they lost both games.
