BALTIMORE @ WASHINGTON (WSH -115, 8.5)
NATIONALS F5 ML
The Nationals have won the first two games of this series. If they would have split the first two, I'd feel more comfortable taking Washington on the full-game moneyline. Remember, only about 27 percent of all MLB three-game series end up as a sweep. Instead, I'll focus on the F5 moneyline. It makes a lot of sense, too.
MacKenzie Gore gets the start for the Nationals and he is the ace of this pitching staff. He's only 2-2 but has a 3.41 ERA. His xERA is 3.06 and his xFIP is just 2.29. Gore will face a Baltimore lineup that is straight up rotting garbage against left-handed pitchers.
Baltimore ranks 29th in team OPS and 30th in ISO against lefties. They also have a 26 percent strikeout rate and that's not good against Gore who is tied for the second in the majors in strikeouts with 45.
n Gore's last start, he pitched 6 innings, allowed 2 earned runs, and he struck out 13 batters. He's averaging 9 Ks per start and has recorded double-digit strikeouts twice. It's a small sample, but Gore has strong career numbers against current Orioles hitters.
The O's faced lefty Mitchell Parker in Game 1 of this series. Parker pitched 8 innings, gave up just 1 hit, and didn't allow a run. Washington won the game 7-0. Gore is a better pitcher than Parker and should own the O's tonight.
Washington is 8-1-1 on the F5 moneyline at home this season. Gore has two home starts this season. Washington won the F5 moneyline in both games. They were against the Phillies and the Dodgers. Gore pitched a full 6 innings in both games.
