Gavin Williams starts for the Guardians against Chris Paddack of the Twins in this one. The two teams will finish their game from yesterday - it was suspended in the fourth inning with the Twins leading 2-1 - beginning at 6:10 p.m. Williams and Paddack will then square off immediately after.
Williams has been missing a ton of bats this season. He has 51 Ks in 42 innings, but his performance in road starts has been far from desirable. Williams has started four games on the road this year. He is 0-1 with a 5.30 ERA. What's more troubling is the 13 walks he's given up in 18.2 innings on the road.
On the other side is Paddack. He is only 2-3 with a 4.05 ERA, but lately he's been really good. In his last two starts - 7.1 IP, 3H, 1ER in a win over the Giants and 7 IP, 3H, 0ER in a win over Baltimore. He has a home ERA of 2.95 and his ERA in the month of May so far is 1.86.
Cleveland has been awful in the First Five innings of its last 10 games. Over that span, the Guardians are 1-8-1 on the F5 moneyline. Cleveland has been struggling recently. The Guardians entered yesterday's game having lost four straight. I'll back Paddack early. He's won his last two starts as well as picking up F5 ML wins as well.
