Hunter Greene makes his first start since May 7. He's been out for 15 days with an injured groin. Greene has great numbers this season - 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA, but coming off the injury, this is not a great spot for him. Plus, the Cubs have won 5 of their last 6 games.
In his career against Chicago, Greene has seven starts. He's 4-1, but his ERA is bit high at 4.06. Opposite Greene will be the Cubs' Matthew Boyd, one of the better left-handers in MLB right now. Boyd is 4-2 with a 2.98 ERA. He's won 2 of his last 3 starts and he hasn't walked a batter since April 30.
With Greene coming off the injury and the Reds inability to hit lefties consistently, the Reds are in trouble here.
TEXAS @ CHICAGO WHITE SOX (TEX -180, 8.5)
RANGERS F5 ML
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Tyler Mahle is one of the more underrated pitchers in baseball. He is 4-1 with a 1.47 ERA this season. He squares off against Sean Burke of the White Sox, who has pitched well at times this season. That is about to change.
Burke is 2-5 with 4.69 ERA, but his expected numbers are among some of the worst for starting pitchers in the majors. Burke's expected ERA is 6.55 and we started to see the regression in his last start when he gave up 5 ER to the Cubs.
The Rangers are 10-0 SU in their last 10 games against the White Sox. Texas is also 7-1 SU in its last 8 games at Rate Field. The Rangers are a profitable F5 team this year - 23-16-11 on the F5 moneyline. With Mahle getting the start, I like the Rangers in the F5 again.
