BOSTON @ MILWAUKEE (MIL -125, 8.5)
RED SOX TT OVER 3.5
The Red Sox have yet to name a starting pitcher, but that doesn't mean you can't find some value in this one. Aaron Civale will start for the Brewers and that spells trouble for Milwaukee. Boston has been quiet at the plate in its last three games - just 4 runs total.
The Red Sox are one of the better lineups in baseball. They rank seventh in scoring, averaging 4.80 runs per game. They've got great power numbers, ranking sixth in ISO (isolated power) and fifth overall in team OPS.
Civale is a decent pitcher, pretty much league average last year with an 8-9 record and an even 4.00 ERA. His biggest issue is giving up homers. Last season, Civale allowed 1.62 homers per nine innings. That's pretty steep.
He got his first start this season on March 30 against the Yankees. Civale lasted just 3.0 innings and gave up 3 dingers in a 12-3 loss to New York. A hamstring injury then forced him to the IL for an extended period and he started his second game just last week against the Pirates. He allowed another homer and 2 more ER in 4.0 innings. His HR/9 so far this season stands at 5.14 and while it's a small sample size, it spells trouble for Civale.
Boston has scored 4 or more runs in 54 percent (30 of 56) of games this season. After Civale exits, the Red Sox will feast on the 24th-ranked bullpen in terms of ERA. Milwaukee relievers have a collective ERA of 4.71 this season.
