The Cardinals head into this one as the favorite, which is to be expected. The problem for the Cardinals is two-fold. One is that they will face the White Sox best pitcher, Shane Smith. The other is their own starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore has fallen apart lately.
Smith is just 3-3 this season, but he has an ERA of 2.37. He's allowed 3 or fewer earned runs in all of his 13 starts this season. He's allowed 2 or less in 9 of the 13. Smith has faced some pretty good hitting lineups too - Tigers, Mets, Cubs and the Red Sox twice.
The White Sox are unique in that they are in last place in the AL Central with a record of 23-49. However, they are one of the best F5 teams in baseball. If you simply bet $100 on the White Sox on the F5 run line in every game this season, you'd be up over $900! Even better, if you only made the same bet when Chicago plays at home, you'd be up over $1500!
Chicago is 25-9 on the F5 run line at Rate Field this season. The White Sox will face Liberatore, who was having a great season up until May 30. In his three starts since May 30, Liberatore, who had an ERA of 3.08, gave up 16 earned runs. Don't be surprised if the White Sox win this one outright.
