BALTIMORE @ LA CHARGERS (BAL -2.5, 50.5)
RAVENS ML
It's a battle of the Harbaughs. Baltimore's John against LA's Jim. Remember, it was Jim that beat his brother in Super Bowl XLVII when Jim was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Tonight is no Super Bowl, but it is a pretty crucial game with some playoff implications.
There are a number of ways to play this game tonight, but I like Baltimore to win. Lamar Jackson thrives in games like these. When Jackson and the Ravens are underdogs or favorites of 3 points or less, Jackson is 25-6 ATS. He also rules at night. Lamar is 19-5 SU in night games.
Baltimore is coming off a loss to Pittsburgh last week. In games after playing Pittsburgh where the Ravens are listed as the favorite, Baltimore is 25-7 SU. The Ravens have won 7 of their last 9 and 4 of their last 5 against the Chargers, including last year's 20-10 win at SoFi Stadium as 3.5-point favorites.
AUBURN vs. IOWA STATE (AUB -3.5, 146.5)
AUBURN -3.5
No. 4 Auburn versus No. 5 Iowa State in the Maui Classic. This should be a good one. It will be the first big test for Iowa State. The Cyclones lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 50 points a game. But, they've done it against Mississippi Valley State, Kansas City, and IU-Indianapolis.
Auburn has an impressive win over No. 7 Houston already and the Tigers are ranked second in the country in offensive efficiency. Iowa State has not seen an offense like this yet. Plus, it's a neutral site game. The Cyclones defense won't be able to feed off of the home crowd. Auburn is 4-0 SU and ATS so far this season. They pick up another big win tonight.
NORTH CAROLINA vs. DAYTON (UNC -8, 155.5)
DAYTON +8
This game is also from the Maui Invitational. North Carolina is 3-1 SU so far this season and tuned up for this event by beating Hawaii on Saturday. Dayton is 5-0 SU and 3-1 ATS. The Flyers are well-balanced on offense with five players averaging at least nine points per game.
More importantly, Dayton is outstanding on the defensive end. The Flyers rank No. 20 in the nation in scoring defense right now, allowing 60 points per game. Last year, Dayton finished No. 30 in the country allowing 66.5 points per game.
The last time they traveled to the Maui Invitational, Dayton took Kansas to the wire, eventually losing 90-84 in overtime. I like Dayton to come out and give a similar effort on a big stage against the No. 10 team in the country.
