SEAHAWKS @ 49ERS 1/3/26

When the Seattle Seahawks play the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California, tonight, a lot will be at stake. Specifically, a first-round playoff bye, the NFC West championship, and the top seed in the NFC playoffs. The 49ers (12-4) and Seahawks (13-3) have both won six games in a row going into tonight.

The 49ers are now in a position to gain home-field advantage through the Super Bowl, which is set for February 8 in Santa Clara. They can do so with a victory after overcoming season-ending injuries to defensive mainstays Nick Bosa and Fred Warner.

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk of the 49ers stated, "If you told anybody back when Fred got hurt that we'd be 12-4 and be battling Week 18 for that one seed, you're absolutely crazy." "No one would have trusted you. So far, this season has been exceptional, and I certainly don't take it for granted. We're not finished, though. I am completely confident that we can do this task.

Due to their 17–13 victory over Seattle in the season opener, the 49ers would win the head-to-head tiebreaker and earn the top spot. Bosa sealed that victory with a strip-sack of Sam Darnold with 36 seconds left and the Seahawks at San Francisco's 9-yard line. Brock Purdy won the game with a touchdown pass to tight end Jake Tonges with just 1:34 left in the game.

Both teams will have less time to prepare than normal. The Seahawks defeated the Carolina Panthers 27-10 on the road on Sunday. In the victory, Zach Charbonnet ran for a season-high 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Sunday night's nationally broadcast game saw the 49ers defeat the visiting Chicago Bears 42-38 after Purdy overcame a pick-6 on the first play from scrimmage to throw for 303 yards and three touchdowns and carry for two more.

"I wish the brief week wasn't there. "We just had a short week," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan remarked, referring to his team's game against Indianapolis on Monday, December 22. "I wish it had been Sunday, but that's just the way things are. I hope the guys recover and are prepared to leave.

Mike Macdonald, the coach of the Seahawks, seems unconcerned. He said, "Whatever," on Seattle Sports 710 AM. "What time is the game? Okay, let's go think of a strategy. Let's head out."

The short week will have an impact on some injured players and their ability to play tonight. Left tackle is the Seahawks' main area of concern. Due to a hamstring issue, Charles Cross will miss his third consecutive game. Josh Jones (ankle/knee), his backup, is listed as questionable after missing two practices and making a limited comeback on Thursday. As a precaution, Seattle signed rookie Amari Kight off the practice squad.

Due to a knee injury, Seattle safety Coby Bryant missed practice on Wednesday but made a limited comeback on Thursday. He is questionable LB Derick Hall will return to the Seahawks following a one-game ban.

Among the five players San Francisco classified as questionable were left tackle Trent Williams, who injured his hamstring on the opening play against the Bears, and tight end George Kittle (ankle). Cornerback Upton Stout (concussion), defensive end Keion White (groin), and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) are also doubtful. Christian McCaffrey did not practice on Wednesday due to back discomfort, but he practiced extensively on Thursday.

Against a 49ers team that has scored 37 points or more in each of its last three games, the Seahawks cannot afford to get off to another slow start. Over the last five games, Seattle has averaged seven points before halftime.

BROCK PURDY OVER 1.5 PASSING TDS

Purdy has been on fire lately with 11 TD passes over his last three games. He hit the Over on this prop in all three games and in 6 of 8 games this season. Purdy also threw two touchdown passes against the Seahawks in the first meeting of the season back in Week 1. Seattle does have a strong defense, but remember, Purdy is elite in the red zone. He leads the NFL in red zone completions per game (4.12) and red zone passing TDs per game (2.0).
