THUNDER @ TIMBERWOLVES 2/13/25
As the NBA calendar heads into its All-Star hiatus, the Oklahoma City Thunder stand atop the league standings. The hope to maintain their dominance as they match up against the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.
The Thunder hold a narrow lead over their closest rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and will be aiming to extend their seven-game winning streak with a victory in Minneapolis. Their most recent win was a 115-101 victory over the Miami Heat last night. OKC leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander racked up 32 points and nine assists in the victory. Equally important was Luguentz Dort's 17-point contribution and his commendable defensive performance.
On the other hand, the Timberwolves enter tonight’s game on the back of a close 103-101 loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks last night. Despite the Bucks missing two of their key players, the Timberwolves couldn't capitalize, with their leading scorer, Anthony Edwards, missing a potential game-winning shot in the final seconds.
Despite the loss, Timberwolves' head coach Chris Finch remains committed to playing his younger players. He emphasized the importance of these games to the overall season tally and suggested that the pressure could help the team members realize their potential.
This game will be the second of four regular-season meetings between the Thunder and the Timberwolves. The first meeting ended in favor of the Thunder, with Gilgeous-Alexander stealing the show by scoring 40 points. The Thunder won at home 113-105.
Oklahoma City’s Chet Holmgren returns home to Minneapolis. He played at nearby Minnehaha Academy as a high school player before heading to Gonzaga. Holmgren, who just recently returned from an injury, did not play last night. He is expected to play tonight.
In addition to going 7-0 SU in their last seven games, the Thunder are 5-1-1 ATS. They have also won 11 of their last 14 games on the road. Minnesota is 8-4 SU in its last 12 games. The TWolves are not a great cover team. They are just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games and 23-32 ATS for the season.
