TWOLVES @ THUNDER 2/24/25
A recent series of games has seen the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder grow quite accustomed to each other's style of play. They will play tonight in Oklahoma City after having played last night in Minnesota. Tonight’s clash will be the fourth and final meeting of the season.
Last night, the Thunder thundered to a 130-123 victory in Minneapolis, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who had 37 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. A critical moment in the game saw the Timberwolves fall behind by 12 points after Gilgeous-Alexander re-joined the game for the final eight minutes.
Of course, the win wasn't a one-man show. On Sunday, Alex Caruso landed three clutch long-range shots in the fourth quarter, Chet Holmgren had three blocks, and seven players registered multiple assists. These factors, among others, have contributed to Oklahoma's impressive season, leading the Western Conference.
Despite their victory, the Thunder weren't at their defensive best on Sunday, a concern raised by their coach. The team plans to improve upon this ahead of tonight’s game, especially given their NBA-leading 104.8 defensive rating and their Western Conference-best 46-10 record.
The Timberwolves' coach, Chris Finch, acknowledged Oklahoma's aggressive gameplay but remained focused on moving forward. The TWolves are currently seventh in the Western Conference standings. They are one game out of sixth place, which would keep Minnesota out of the play-in tournament.
Adding to Minnesota's challenges, injuries have hit hard. Rudy Gobert has missed three consecutive games, and Donte DiVincenzo and Julius Randle have been out for a while too. Moreover, Jaylen Clark might miss the upcoming game due to a neck injury sustained in Sunday's game.
In spite of these setbacks, the Timberwolves remain focused on improving their standing in the Western Conference and aim to secure an automatic playoff berth. Monday's game will kick-start a four-game road trip for them, playing seven of their next nine away from home.
Anthony Edwards of Minnesota, having accumulated 14 technical fouls this season, is perilously close to a one-game suspension, adding yet another element of suspense to what promises to be an exciting contest on Monday.

COACH RICK FREE PICK:
THUNDER TEAM TOTAL UNDER 121.5
The Thunder are 4th in the NBA in scoring, averaging 118.3 points per game. They put up 130 in last night’s win over Minnesota and now they will get the TWolves again at home. Last night was the second straight night OKC scored 130 and the 7th time in their last 10 games the Thunder went Over 121.5. However, this is the second night of a back-to-back and OKC has struggled in back-to-backs recently. They have lost 3 of their last 4 on the second night with no rest. Ironically, the last loss was to Minnesota. In those three losses, the Thunder scored 101, 115, and 98 points. The Wolves are a top 5 defense and they’ll play better tonight.
