TIMBERWOLVES @ THUNDER 5/20/25
It's difficult to avoid looking forward, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander acknowledges. But, when the Oklahoma City Thunder attempt to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves at home tonight in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, the star of the team says they will learn from Game 3.
With a 3-1 series lead, the Thunder are just one victory away from earning their first trip to the NBA Finals since 2012. Mark Daigneault, the coach of Oklahoma City, expressed his confidence in his team's capacity to concentrate on the current task.
The Thunder overcame a 42-point loss on the road on Saturday to win Game 4 128-126 in Minneapolis, putting the Timberwolves in danger of elimination. In that win, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City's big three, scored a combined 95 points. According to Gilgeous-Alexander, the trio hasn't even approached its maximum potential.
After winning both of their first two playoff series in five games, the Timberwolves are now facing elimination for the first time this postseason. It makes sense that Minnesota needs more output from Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards if it hopes to survive. After going 21-for-32 for 54 points in Game 3, the pair was only 6 of 20 for 21 points in the defeat in Game 4. Randle played 28 minutes in Game 4 and scored just 5 points.
Though Gilgeous-Alexander is the Thunder’s leading scorer, it’s Williams who is the key to a clinching Thunder victory tonight. He shot 13-of-24 and scored 34 points in Game 4. Williams hit 6-of-9 from three-point range. Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 40 points.
Oklahoma City is now 4-1 SU in its last five games. The Thunder have won five straight at home. Despite winning Game 4, OKC did not cover the spread. Minnesota has now covered in each of the last two games in the series. The TWolves are now 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games and 5-2 ATS in the last seven against the Thunder.

Coach Rick FREE PICKS:
JADEN MCDANIELS OVER 1.5 THREE-POINTERS
If it ain’t broke, right? If you played this prop in Games 2, 3, and 4, you cashed three winners. McDaniels hit 3-of-6 threes in Game 4 to make it three straight Over this prop. Anthony Edwards wasn’t able to drive and dish as much in Game 4, but he got shut down to the point where McDaniels got way more looks at the basket. He finished with 22 points in Game 4. McDaniels is nailing threes in this series. He’s 9-for-18 from behind the arc in the last three games, 10-for-21 in the series. If OKC continues to harass Edwards, McDaniels and his hot hand should go Over this prop once again.
