RAZORBACKS @ UTES 9/12/26
This is the SEC-Big 12 headliner of the late window, and the market has made its stance clear: Utah is a two-touchdown home favorite, and the sharp money is even more bullish than the number suggests. The Utes grade out at an 80.25% sharp win probability on the moneyline against Arkansas' 19.75% — a decisive lean toward the home side in a game where the talent gap is real.
WHO WINS: UTAH
The Utes are the better team on both sides of the ball, and Week 1 only widened the gap. Utah demolished FCS Idaho 66-14, piling up 633 total yards (364 on the ground, 269 through the air) while holding the Vandals to just 225 yards and 13 first downs. Arkansas, meanwhile, needed a 31-14 win over North Alabama to look far shakier than the scoreboard suggested — the Hogs were minus-2 in turnover margin, committed 8 penalties for 74 yards, and averaged just 3.0 yards per carry against an FCS defense that finished 91st in rushing yards allowed last season
The sharp money confirms the lean. Utah sits at 80.25% to win outright, and the Utes are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games. Arkansas, by contrast, lost all five of its road games last season and is breaking in a new head coach (Ryan Silverfield) with a first-year starting quarterback (KJ Jackson) making his first career road start — in altitude, in a hostile night environment, against a defense that just held Idaho to 3.4 yards per carry.
The core of the case is simple: Utah's offense is a machine, and Arkansas' defense — which allowed 0.33 EPA per dropback last season, ranking 131st among FBS schools — has no answer for it.
BETTING THE SPREAD
The market and the sharps agree that -12.5 is a solid play. The line has moved from an open of -10 to -12.5, and the sharp spread split sits at 50.67% Utah / 49.33% Arkansas — essentially a coin flip on the number, which means the value is in the team, not the line.
The statistical case is overwhelming. Utah's offense averaged 39.5 points per game against FBS competition last season and put up 633 yards in Week 1. Arkansas allowed 31+ points in nine of its last 10 games last season, and its run defense — which looked solid against North Alabama — now faces a Utah ground game that ran for 364 yards last week and ranked second in the FBS last season at 265.8 rushing yards per game. The Utes' offensive line protected Devon Dampier admirably in Week 1 (he was rarely asked to run), and running back Wayshawn Parker recorded 94 total yards with a rushing touchdown and a pair of receiving scores.
The situational edge matters too. Arkansas is playing in a different time zone, at night, in altitude, with a young team that just struggled to put away an FCS opponent at home. The Hogs' leading rusher, Braylen Russell, managed just 49 yards on 17 carries (2.9 yards per carry) against North Alabama. Utah's defensive front — led by defensive tackle Karson Kaufusi (1.5 tackles for loss in Week 1) and linebackers Cyrus Polu and Elijah Elliss — should have similar success against the run.
The one caveat: this line is worth backing as long as it stays at 13.5 or lower. If it closes at a flat 14 or higher, the value erodes. At -12.5, you're getting the best of the number.
GAME TOTAL ANALYSIS
The total has climbed from an open of 53.5 to 55.5, and the sharps are split dead even at 50.0% over / 50.0% under — which means the number is sitting right where it should be. But the game script leans under.
Here's the case: while Utah's offense is explosive, Arkansas' offense is a mess. The Hogs averaged just 3.0 yards per carry against an FCS defense, turned the ball over three times, and committed 8 penalties. Against a Utah defense that held Idaho to 225 total yards, Arkansas may struggle to reach 20 points. And while Utah put up 66 against Idaho, the Utes aren't likely to operate with impunity against an SEC defense — even a mediocre one. The Razorbacks held North Alabama to 153 total yards, and while that number means little given the competition, it suggests the defense isn't a total sieve.
The math: if Utah scores in the high 30s and Arkansas manages 17-20, you're looking at a final in the mid-50s — right on the number. But if Arkansas' offense sputters the way it did in Week 1, this game could land in the low 50s. The under is the natural side given the pace and the quarterback mismatch.
UTAH TEAM TOTAL OVER 33.5
This is a correlated play that isolates Utah's offensive dominance. The Utes averaged 39.5 points per game against FBS competition last season and put up 66 against Idaho. Arkansas allowed 31+ points in nine of its last 10 games last season, and its defense ranked 131st in EPA per dropback.
The matchup is a nightmare for Arkansas: Utah's ground game (364 yards in Week 1) faces a Razorbacks run defense that was gashed by North Alabama's backup-level talent. And Dampier — who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 13-of-18 passing in limited action — should have time to operate against a secondary that struggled all last season.
The risk: if Utah jumps out to a big lead and pulls its starters early (as it did against Idaho, when backup Byrd Ficklin took over), the team total could fall short. But at 33.5, you're asking for five touchdowns — a number Utah has cleared in each of its last two games against FBS competition.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Utah is the better team, the sharper side, and the one with the clear schematic edge. The Utes' offense should overwhelm an Arkansas defense that ranked near the bottom of the FBS in EPA per dropback last season, and the Razorbacks' own offensive issues — a first-year starting quarterback, a struggling run game, and a road environment in altitude — make this a tough spot for the visitor. The under is the natural companion bet given Arkansas' offensive limitations, and the Utah team total is a correlated play on the Utes' offensive dominance.

FREE PICK: UTAH 1H -6.5
If you want to isolate the early-game edge, the first-half spread is the sharper angle. Utah scored at least 14 points in every quarter against Idaho, and the Utes' offense should make its presence known early against an Arkansas defense that hasn't faced a Power Four offense yet. The reasoning is straightforward: Arkansas' offense is a work in progress under a new staff, and KJ Jackson is making his first road start. The Hogs scored just one touchdown in each of the first two quarters against North Alabama, and they turned the ball over three times. Against a Utah defense that forced two turnovers and held Idaho to 3.4 yards per carry, Arkansas is unlikely to get into the end zone early. Meanwhile, Utah's offense — which averaged 480 yards per game last season — should move the ball at will against a Razorbacks defense that ranked 131st in EPA per dropback in 2025.
