Tonight’s matchup at Angel Stadium features a fascinating contrast between a seasoned veteran pitcher and a complete newcomer. The Boston Red Sox send left-hander Ranger Suarez to the mound, while the Los Angeles Angels counter with Ryan Johnson, who is making his debut against this Boston lineup. Boston is coming off a dominant 8-1 victory yesterday, and the statistical trends suggest they are well-positioned to keep that momentum rolling in Anaheim.

The Red Sox hold a significant advantage on the mound with Suarez. Furthermore, the Angels' offense is missing its primary power sources (Trout, Rendon), which significantly lowers the ceiling for their run production.

The Under 8.5 is available at a slight discount at some books. With Suarez likely to pitch deep into the game and the Angels struggling to string hits together, the burden of hitting the "Over" falls almost entirely on Boston. Even if Boston scores 5 or 6 runs, the Angels' depleted lineup makes it difficult to see them contributing enough to push this past 8.5.
