DODGERS @ BRAVES 6/27/25

The Los Angeles Dodgers (51-31) and the Kansas City Royals (38-43) will start a three-game interleague series tonight. This is the only series between these teams this season. The Royals were swept at home by the Rays in their last series, and the Dodgers recently swept the Rockies in Colorado. Dustin May (4.46 ERA) will start for Los Angeles, while Noah Cameron (2.08 ERA) will start for Kansas City.

The Dodgers, who have won all four of their previous games, enter this Interleague game with momentum. They swept the Rockies in Colorado after defeating the Nationals in the home series finale. They are six games ahead of the Padres, who are in second place in the NL West. Shohei Ohtani hit a home run in the seventh inning of their final game against Colorado, which ended in a 3-1 victory.

Ohtani is now third in all of MLB after hitting his 28th home run of the season on Thursday. He is batting .291 at the plate, has added 52 RBIs, and has stolen 11 bases while batting at the top of the order. Mookie Betts, who bats second behind Ohtani, has a .256 batting average, nine home runs, and 40 RBIs this season. This season, the Dodgers have been pleasantly surprised by Andy Pages, who bats sixth in the lineup as their center fielder and has 16 home runs, 54 RBIs, and a solid .293 batting average.

May, a 27-year-old right-hander, will start for the 15th time this season. The team has won two of his last three starts, and he has a 4-5 record. With 72 strikeouts and 32 walks, his ERA is 4.46. May lost to the Nationals in his most recent start, giving up three earned runs in six innings.

Prior to this series against the Dodgers, the Kansas City Royals had lost five straight, which hurt their chances of winning the AL Central. They were swept by Tampa Bay at home over three games after losing their previous two away games to San Diego. Although they are now only three games behind the Guardians for second place in the division, they have dropped to fourth place.

Vinnie Pasquantino, who leads the team with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs and has been their best power hitter this season. He is in his fourth season with the team. His season batting average is .269, and he bats third in the lineup. Despite going 0–4 on Thursday, Bobby Witt Jr., the team's young star shortstop, remains one of the best players. Witt, who bats second in the lineup, has 40 RBIs and 10 home runs in addition to his .278 batting average. Their leadoff hitter, Jonathan India, who is batting .239 with four home runs and 22 RBIs as their second baseman, had two more hits on Thursday.

A 25-year-old left-hander, Noah Cameron will start for the ninth time this season. Kansas City has lost his last four starts. He has a 2-3 record on the season. With 34 strikeouts and 15 walks, his ERA is 2.08. Cameron lost to the Padres in his most recent start, giving up two earned runs in 5.1 innings.

DUSTIN MAY OVER 3.5 STRIKEOUTS

May has pitched at least five innings in all 14 of his starts this season. He has had at least four strikeouts in 10 of the 14 starts. Kansas City does have the second-lowest strikeout percentage in MLB. They only strike out 6.81 times per game. But, KC also ranks 28th in ISO and in wOBA against right-handed pitchers. Plus, this is a low number for May, who has seen his strikeout total at 4.5 or 5.5 for 13 of his 14 starts. The only time his total was at 3.5 this season was back on April 1 in his very first start. He had 6 Ks against Atlanta..
