METS @ DODGERS 6/2/25
Just over a week ago, the New York Mets at least partially exacted revenge on the Los Angeles Dodgers at home. This week, the two teams will continue their duel. After winning the series in a World Series rematch against the New York Yankees over the weekend, the Dodgers will now host a four-game series against the Mets beginning Monday.
Last season, Los Angeles defeated the Mets in a six-game National League Championship Series to advance to that World Series. The Dodgers scored a total of three runs in the two losses, and the Mets won two of three when the teams faced off again on May 23–25.
The Mets' seven wins in eight games, including a recent three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies, began with those two wins over the Dodgers. Mets sluggers Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso all hit home runs in Sunday's 5-3 victory at Colorado. Although Soto has hit home runs in back-to-back games, he has only hit two in his last 19 batting appearances, batting .162 in that span.
After recovering from a number of injuries, right-hander Paul Blackburn will make his 2025 debut for the Mets on Monday when he takes the mound in the series opener. Blackburn was acquired from the Athletics at the trade deadline last season. He made five starts for New York before his season was cut short by injuries. During spring training, he suffered a knee injury, and his recuperation was disrupted by an illness. Blackburn has never faced the Dodgers in eight major league seasons.
After defeating the Yankees 8-5 and 18-2, the Dodgers lost 7-3 on Sunday despite home runs from Tommy Edman, Andy Pages, and Max Muncy.
Shohei Ohtani of Los Angeles has hit four home runs in the last six games after going just 2-for-13 with a home run in the most recent series against the Mets. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on the first day of June, and finished May with 15 home runs.
All-Star Mookie Betts, who missed the weekend series due to a fractured left foot, is still awaiting his return to the Dodgers. The shortstop/outfielder is not anticipated to be placed on the injury list. Betts was batting .254 for the season but only .207 in his last 15 games.

COACH RICK FREE PICK:
JUAN SOTO OVER 0.5 STRIKEOUTS
Soto has been a serious disappointment this season. He’s batting just .233 with 10 homers and 28 RBI. Soto is coming off probably his best series of the season. He went 4-for-9 with two home runs and a double against … wait for it … the Rockies! Surprisingly, Soto didn’t whiff once over the weekend. But, prior to that, he struck out at least once in 9 of the previous 11 games. He has at least one K in 59 percent of games this season (34-of-58) and in 12 plate appearances against Dodgers starter Dustin May, Soto is 1-for-9 with two strikeouts. After a weekend off, Soto gets back to business and whiffs tonight.
