Tonight begins a three-game series between the San Francisco Giants (48-42) and the Philadelphia Phillies (53-37). Cristopher Sanchez will start for the Phillies. Landen Roupp takes the mound for the Giants. The season series is tied 2-2.

Sanchez's recent performance against the Padres was excellent. He gave up just one run in seven innings and got the win. He has a 7-2 record in 100.2 innings pitched this season, a 2.68 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and he has only allowed five runs in his last four appearances. With a 2-0 record in 17.2 innings pitched, Sanchez has limited the Giants to just four runs (three earned) in his career.

The Phillies begin a road trip tonight. With just 1.5 games separating them from the Mets, the Phillies are in first place. This past week, the Phillies defeated the Padres in a home series and defeated the Reds in two of three home games. The pitching flourished, giving up 11 runs while they scored 14. On the road, the Phillies are 23–21 this season.

In his last six games, Bryce Harper has not scored any runs. This season, the standout first baseman has 34 RBIs and a .791 OPS. In the April series against the Giants, Alec Bohm recorded two RBIs. The seasoned slugger has a .728 OPS and 41 RBIs. JT Realmuto has struggled. The veteran catcher has a poor .677 OPS this season and has only one RBI in his last eight games. With five RBIs in his last six games, Nick Castellanos is in good form. The seasoned outfielder has a .759 OPS and 49 RBIs.

The Giants will start Roupp tonight. Despite giving up two runs in four innings against the Diamondbacks, Roupp had a respectable recent outing, which led to another no-decision in a Giants victory. The young right-hander is 6-5 in 85.1 innings pitched this season, has a 3.48 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP, and has given up two runs or fewer in four of his last six appearances. Earlier this season, Roupp secured the victory against the Phillies after giving up four runs in five innings.

Due to their recent inconsistency, the San Francisco Giants are now 8.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West. With a number of teams in close pursuit, they do hold a wildcard spot. The Giants took two of three games from the Athletics over the weekend. At home, the Giants are 25-17.

At the beginning of this month, Mike Yastrzemski has 28 RBIs and a respectable .721 OPS. With just one RBI in his last five games, Wilmer Flores has been quiet. The 33-year-old has a .692 OPS and 55 RBIs. Currently on the IL is Christian Koss. Heliot Ramos has three RBIs in his last ten games. With 47 RBIs this season, the 25-year-old is having a strong campaign.

The Philadelphia Phillies have lost five of their last six road games. The Giants are 25–17 on the season at home. In their four games with the Phillies this season, they have scored 29 runs.

Roupp has been dominant at home with a stifling 1.85 ERA in 34 innings. Roupp has won four of his last five starts.
