RANGERS @ WHITE SOX 8/26/26
This is a fascinating spot because the sharp money and the market are telling two different stories. The books have the White Sox as slight home favorites at -120 (DraftKings), and the sharp model gives Chicago a 53.08% win probability. But the Rangers come in half a game out of first place in the AL West and the historical matchup data heavily favors Texas.
The sharp model is slightly on Chicago for the moneyline, but here's the catch — the spread data tells a much more interesting story. The Rangers are covering +1.5 at a 56.83% clip per the sharp model, which is a significantly stronger number than the White Sox's moneyline edge. That tells me the sharp money believes this game is close, and Texas has real value even as a road underdog.
THE CASE FOR THE RANGERS
The head-to-head history is lopsided. Texas has won 6 of the last 9 meetings between these two clubs straight up. That's not a small-sample fluke — that's the past two seasons of the Rangers owning this matchup. The ATS record (3-6) is actually the flip side, which tells you these games have been closer than the final scores suggest, but the Rangers have consistently found a way to win.
Corey Seager is playing like an MVP again. The shortstop went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a walk and a run in Monday's series opener before being lifted early. Since returning from his back injury, Seager is hitting .355/.424/.553 over his last 21 games — that's a top-five hitter in baseball over that stretch. His season OPS+ is now 118, and he's been worth nearly 2.5 wins above replacement despite missing significant time. When Seager is right, this Rangers lineup is a completely different animal.
The Rangers' offense is built for this park. Texas ranks 11th in wRC+ (101.71) on the season, and they just hung 11 runs on this White Sox pitching staff on Monday. The White Sox, meanwhile, have a 4.14 team ERA (15th in MLB) and a 4.25 FIP (21st) — that's a staff that's been getting by on smoke and mirrors, and the Rangers proved they can light them up.
THE CASE FOR THE WHITE SOX
Chicago's offense is legitimately dangerous. The White Sox rank 6th in runs scored (620) and 4th in home runs (175) on the season, with a 103.77 wRC+ that's 7th in baseball. This isn't the punchless White Sox teams of years past — they have real power throughout the lineup, and Miguel Vargas has been the catalyst, hitting .282 at home with a 69.7% hit rate in 66 games at Rate Field.
The home-field edge is real. The sharp model gives Chicago a 53.08% win probability at home, and the market has them as -120 favorites. Rate Field has been a friendly venue for this club, and they've been competitive in this series despite the Monday blowout.
The pitching matchup is a question mark for both sides. The Rangers are missing Nathan Eovaldi (15-day IL) and Jack Leiter (60-day IL), which thins out their rotation. Texas's team ERA of 4.19 (18th) and FIP of 4.07 (14th) are middling numbers, and they'll need their starter to keep Chicago's power bats in the park.
IF YOU HAVE TO PICK A SIDE
Back the Rangers - the sharp model's 53.08% for Chicago is a slight edge, not a strong one — and it's being priced into the -120 line. But the historical matchup data (8-2 in the last 10 meetings), the Seager factor, and the fact that Texas just put up 11 runs on this pitching staff on Monday all point to the Rangers having the better side of this game.
The Rangers +1.5 at -185 is actually the sharpest play on the board — the model gives Texas a 56.83% chance of covering that spread, which is a stronger edge than the White Sox's moneyline number. The price is steep, so If you want to be more aggressive, the Rangers' moneyline at +110 is live value for a team that's won 6 of the last 9 in this matchup.

FREE PICK: OVER 7.5
The Over has cashed in 7 of the last 10 in this series. Sean Burke has a higher ERA at home than on the road and he’s given up 4 ER in each of his last two starts. Mackenzie Gore has been pitching extremely well as of late - 1.57 ERA in four starts this month - but historically he has struggled on the road. The first two games of this series went Over as the winner scored 11 runs. Both bullpens have been in the bottom half of the league over the last two weeks in terms of ERA and wOBA. This line opened at 8, dropped to 7.5 and now a number of books are offering 8.5. You can still find 7.5s at around -120 at several books.
